International Keynote Speakers
Ms Diamond's role at the Banff Centre includes coordinating residencies, supervising research projects, securing funding for the Centre, maintaining and developing professional associations and a variety of other functions. She is also active in the teaching area, supervising students from graduate to post-doctoral level. In 1995, Ms Diamond founded the Banff New Media Institute (BNMI) which brings together artists, inventors, producers and theorists in the field of new media for summits, workshops and think-tanks. She raises funds for the institute in addition to securing partnerships between the institute and other organisations. As Director of Research at the BNMI she has developed Banff's research and development projects in software and authoring tools, advanced visualisation and collaborative systems. She also acts as Executive Producer for television
and new media productions at the Banff Centre, curates major exhibitions,

Lyn Elliot Sherwood CHIN has collaborated with Canadian museums for more than 30 years to develop digital content for professional and public access. In 2001, CHIN launched the Virtual Museum of Canada, a portal which aggregates content from over 900 Canadian museums. In its first two years, the Virtual Museum welcomed close to 7 million online visitors from around the world. Ms. Sherwood has extensive experience in the creation of electronic information networks and the management of policies and programs in the area of cultural heritage. Within the Canadian federal government she has held positions with the National Museums of Canada, the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission, the Privy Council Office, the Ministry of State for Social Development, the Department of Communications and the Department of Canadian Heritage. In addition to her public service career, she has worked with Carleton University to establish the Centre for Editing Early Canadian Texts and as a consultant specializing in communications policy and history.
